We honor your courageous decision to seek support for your mental health. Further, we believe the healing work that happens in the therapeutic space is sacred. Whether you are new to therapy or have been to therapy before, we welcome you and acknowledge that starting with a new therapist can be hard. Your peace is our motivation. We have created a calm, warm, and inviting space, where your well-being is our utmost priority. Here are a few essential logistics to help you prepare for your first session:
Our Location
You can find us on the third floor of the Gardener Building, nestled in suites 310 and 302, located at 524 Maryland Way. Feel free to park in any available spot, as there are no assigned parking spaces.
Finding Our Office
Upon reaching the third floor, you can take either the stairs or the elevator. Turn right after exiting the elevator, and our offices are down the hall.
Refreshments
We invite you to make yourself comfortable in our lobby, where you’ll find a selection of tea, coffee, water, and snacks. Take your time to relax, and your therapist will come out to welcome you.
About the Experience
We understand that starting therapy can bring up many emotions. You may feel anxious or even scared. Please know that these feelings are not only okay but entirely expected and completely part of the process. We validate you in this experience and are here with you in these initial moments of uncertainty. We’re here to create a safe haven for you, where you can bring all your emotions and thoughts, without judgement.
Additionally, it’s important to understand that building a strong therapeutic relationship takes time. Your brain is doing very difficult, very important work. After some sessions, you will feel lighter and ready to tackle the world. After some sessions, you may feel emotionally drained and tired. This is a normal part of the process. Although the journey may feel challenging, we are here to guide, support, and encourage you every step of the way. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. We do offer 75 minute sessions or double sessions (100 minutes in length) when clinically appropriate.
Should you ever feel that your therapeutic connection isn’t a good fit, know that you can reach out to Penny Brotz, our office manager, and she will gladly assist in scheduling you with another therapist within our practice. You may also bring it up directly with your therapist.
Insurance & Fees
As a team, we are mindful of the investment that you are making in yourself by taking the step to get support for your mental health. We understand your resources are valuable. We will show up for you wholeheartedly to each and every session. We will cheer you on in your victories and stand with you through the tough times.
At this time we do not accept insurance, so we are mindful to offer a wide range of rates. We can also provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We understand that seeking support for your mental health is an investment in yourself. Please contact us with any questions you may have about this process and for current rates.
